Subjects and Predicates

QuestionAnswer
What is a noun? A noun is a person, place, animal, or thing.
What is a verb? Action or Being that describes what the subject is doing.
What must be included in the complete predicate? A verb must be included in the complete predicate.
What must be included in the complete subject? A noun must be included in the complete subject.
What is the simple subject? The simple subject is the one word or phrase that's most important - the who did it?
What is the simple predicate? The simple predicate is the one word or phrase that describes what the subject does - the what did they do?
What is the simple subject in "Frank ate the bacon." Frank
What is the simple predicate in "Frank ate the bacon." Ate
What is the complete subject in "The adventurous sailor jumped off the ship." The adventurous sailor
What is the complete predicate in "The adventurous sailor jumped off the ship." Jumped off the ship
