Alliteration The repetition of a common sound in a sentence
Allusion A reference to a well-known person
Antagonist The character against the protagonist
Assonance The repetition of the vowel sound
Author's Purpose The goal of the story
Character's Motivation The reason a character does something
Cliché Something that's been done many times over many years
Dialect The language spoken in a piece of literature
Dialogue A conversation between two or more characters
Diction The author's choice of words
Direct Characterization Telling exactly what a character is like
Dramatic Irony Something that is known by the audience but not the character(s)
Verbal Irony When someone says or writes one thing, but means another
