TermDefinition
Natural: All positive whole numbers, not including zero.
Whole Numbers: positive whole numbers including zero. This category does not include any negative whole numbers.
integers: Positive and negative whole numbers including zero. This category does not include any fractions or decimals.
Rational: A number that can be expressed as a ratio (fraction) of two numbers. This includes decimals thatterminate or repeat.
Real: A number that is rational or irrational. This is the highest set of numbers which includes all numbers. Don't worry, you will learn about imaginary numbers in Algebra II
Irrational A number that cannot be expressed as a ratio (fraction) of two numbers. This includes decimals that never stop or repeat
