Unit 1 Algerbra Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Algebraic Expression One or more numbers and/or variables along with one or more arithmetic operations
Terms numbers, variables or the product of numbers and variables which are separated by addition or subtraction
cofficiant The number in a term. (NOT A CONSTANT)
Constant A term with no variables (alone)
Factors quanities( # or variables being multiplied in a term)
Subsitution property If two quantites are equal then they can be switched in an expression
Evaluate-Simplify an expression as much as possible
Operations in an epression
grouping symbols third includes parenthesis
Exponents Must simplify all exponents
Multiply or divide multiply or first comes left to right
Add or subtract addition comes first or can go from left to right
variable symbols(normally letters) used to present an unknown value
Algebraix Expressions One or more numbers and/or variables along with one or more arithmetic operatons

the number in a term is called the coefficent
A term with is just a number with no variables is called a constant
factors Quantites being multiplied
Power Expression an an expression where a base has an exponent
An eponent tells you to multiply the base by its self as many times as the exponent
Verbal expressions The big diffrence is going from verbal-)Algerbraic there is low few correct expressions,going from algebraic-)verbal there are many.
