A-Unit 1-Shop Safety

What is the primary piece of safety equipment in machine shop? safety glasses
What can you do if you wear prescription eyeglasses? We can cover prescription eyeglasses with a safety goggle.
Describe proper dress for the machine shop. Wear a short-sleeved shirt. It is recommended to wear an apron.
What can be done to control grinding dust? To control grinding dust, we need to have a vacuum dust collector.
What hazards exist from coolants, oils, and solvents? Hazards that exist from coolants, oils and solvents are rashes and infection.
Describe proper lifting procedure. Keep your back straight. Squat down, bending your knees. Lift smoothly using the muscles in your legs to do the work.
Describe at least two compressed-air hazards. Blow chips from a machine tool and blow compressed air on clothing or skin.
Describe good housekeeping procedures. Keep the floor and aisles clear of stock and tools. Clean up oils or coolants thaty spill on the floor.
How do you carry long pieces of material/ They should be carried in the horizontal position.
Five points from the safety checklist for a machine tool. Am I doing something that I probably should not do? Have I made all the proper adjustments and tightened all locking bolts and clamps? Is the workpiece secured properly? Do I know where the stop switch is? Do I think about safety in everything that I do?
