Pocket parks serve very local pop. w/ green space
Tot lots serve neighborhood w/places for small children to play
Neighborhood or community gardens offer opportunities for residents of a neighborhood to grow flowers & vegetables
Active recreation parks places for baseball, soccer, & other games
Passive rec parks Feature paths for walking and places to sit
Greenways provide paths for walking, biking, or horseback riding as well as undisturbed, inaccessible habitat corridors
CPTED Crime Prevention Though Environmental Design
Green Infrastructure greenways or park space may provide opportunities for wildlife migration & habitat & may improve the quality of air due to action of trees; may provide buffer for surface water features & protection from flood hazards;
What is improved by parks & open space? improve air & water quality, biological diversity, & stormwater retention
What are costs associated with providing space? personnel for maintenance & policing & capital expenditures to create ball fields or trails & for equipment to maintain them
What can be a threat caused by parks? if it creates unaceptable amounts of noise or traffic on local streets or provides opportunities for crime
