| halt | to stop moving or happening |
| Hessian | a German soldier that fought in the American Revolution |
| Continental | of or relating to the colonies later forming the United States |
| delegation | a group of persons chosen to represent others |
| conspiring | to join in a secret agreement to do an unlawful or wrongful act or an act which becomes unlawful as a result of the secret agreement |
| the raspberries | To blow when your tongue is sticking out of your mouth, producing a rasping sound. |
| insurrection | an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government |
| inflicting | to cause (something unpleasant) to be endured |
| Boston Tea Party | American protest against British taxes: a protest against British taxes made by the citizens of Boston in 1773 that led to the American Revolution. |
| cruel | used to describe people who hurt others and do not feel sorry about it |
| massacre | the act or an instance of killing a number of usually helpless or unresisting human beings under circumstances of atrocity or cruelty |
