What does ANSI represent? American National Standards Institute
What is an ANTIFREEZE CHARGE? Aka "loaded stream charge" This is a water-based extinguishing medium that uses an alkali salt to prevent freezing
What is CO2? CO2 is a colorless, odorless, electrically non-conductive inert gas for Class B & C fires
What is DRY CHEMICAL? Dry chem = a powder made of very small particles of sodium/potassium bicarbonate or ammonium phosphate
Waht is WET CHEMICAL? Wet chem = liquid salts
Does CLEAN AGENT leave a residue? Clean agent does not leave any residue
What is a DRY CHEMICAL CLOSED RECOVERY SYSTEM? A dry chem closed recovery system recycles the agent while not allowing foreign matter to enter into the system and allows for visual inspection of the agent for foreign matter
What is a HALOGENATED CLOSED RECOVERY SYSTEM? A halogenated closed recovery system doesn't allow any agent to escape to the atmosphere
What is the HIGH PRESSURE cylinder threshold? >500 psi
What is the LOW PRESSURE cylinder threshold? < 500 psi
Who is the DOT? Department of Transportation
What is an EXTINGUISHER INSPECTION? An extinguisher inspection is a quick check
What is EXTINGUISHER MAINTENANCE entail? Extinguisher maintenance is a thorough examination
What are two FILM-FORMING AGENTS? AFFF - Aqueous Film-Forming Foam FFFP - Film-Forming Flouroprotein Foam
What depth makes a liquid a FLAMMABLE LIQUID OF APPRECIABLE DEPTH? > 1/4"
What are HALOGENATED AGENTS? Halogenated agents = clean agents

What is HYDROSTATIC TESTING? Hydro test = pressure test
What is a LOADED STREAM CHARGE? Liquid salt that prevents freezing
What is a MILD STEEL SHELL? 1. NOT stainless steel 2. Steel shells used for high pressure cylinders
What is the FACTORY TEST PRESSURE? Factory Test Pressure = pressure at the time of manufacture
Define TRAVEL DISTANCE Actual walking distance to an FE
Define WETTING AGENT Wetting agent = a penetrating/spreading concentrate
What is a CARTRIDGE/CYLINDER OPERATED FE? The gas is in a separate container from the agent
What is a PORTABLE FE? Portable or wheeled that carries a pressurized agent that is used to suppress or extinguish fire
What is a RECHARGEABLE (REFILLABLE) FE? An FE that can be maintained, hydro'd, and parts replaced
What is a SELF-EXPELLING FE? A self-expelling FE allows agent to be expelled
What is a STORED PRESSURE FE? Both expellant and agent are in a single container, with a gauge
What is a WATER MIST FE? An FE that contains distilled or deionized water in a fine spray
What is a WATER TYPE FE? An FE that contains water, AFFF, FFFP, antifreeze, loaded stream or wet chemical
What is a WHEELED FE? Wheeled FE = cartridge and wheels for 1-person use
