| mean | The sum of the data values divided by the number of data items. |
| median | The middle value, or mean of two middle values, when data are in numerical order. |
| mode | The item with the greatest frequency. |
| order of operations | The process of solving a mathematical equation. |
| outlier | One data item is much higher or lower than the other data items. |
| power | An expression using a base and an exponent. |
| range | The difference between the greatest and least values in a data set. |
| simplify | Replace a numerical expression with its simplest name. |
| variable | A symbol that stands for one or more numbers. |
