Mood Disorders

an illness of the mind that can affect the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of a person, preventing him or her from leading a happy, healthful, and productive life. Mental Disorder
A condition in which real or imagined fears are difficult to control. anxiety disorder
A strong and irrational fear of something specific, such as high places or dogs. phobia
A disorder where the person is trapped in a pattern of repeated thoughts or behaviors. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
A disorder where a person hs sudden, unexplained feelings of terror. Panic Disorder
A condition that may develop after exposure to a terrifying event that threatened or caused physical harm. (Common after a personal assault, such as rape; natural or human-made disasters, such as earthquakes or bombings etc). Post-trauamtic stress disorder
An illness, often with an organic cause, that involves mood extremes that interfere with everyday living. Mood disorder
The feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or despair that last for more than a few weeks and interfere with daily interests and activities. Depression
A disorder marked by extreme mood changes, energy levels, and behavior. Bipolar Disorder
Disorders, such as anorexia and bulimia, that cause life threatening disturbances in your eating behavior. Eating Disorders
A disorder; A pattern of behavior in which the rights of others or basic social rules are violated. Conduct Disorder
A severe mental disorder in which a person loses contact with reality. Schizophrenia
People with this disorder tend to be irritable, aggressive, impulsive, and violent. In many cases, they are unable to show remorse for their behavior. Antisocial Personality Disorder
People with this disorder frequently experience a series of troubled relationships, tend to engage in high-risk activities, and many have poor self-esteem. Although they fear abandonment, they frequently lash out violently at the people they need most. Borderline personality disorder
People with this disorder are often uncooperative. They resent being told what to do, yet they rely on others' direction. Passive-Aggressive Personality Disorder
Feeling isolated and separated from everyone else. alienation

Therapy Method that involves treating a group of people who have similar problems and who meet regularly with a trained counselor. Group Therapy
Therapy method that uses certain medications to treat and reduce the symptoms of a mental disorder. Biomedical therapy

An individual's total response to a major loss. grief response
