semantics branch of linguistics that studies word meaning, word history and development, and word connotations.
style an evaluation of the mixture of literary devices. Classification of authors to a group and comparison of an author to similar authors
subject complement the word or clause that follows a linking verb and complements of the subject of the senctence
subordinate clause subject and a verb, not a complete sentence
syllogism a deductive system of formal logic
symbol anything that represents itself and stands for something else
