federal income tax tax paid to the federal government
FICA tax money taken out of your paycheck to pay retired people's pensions
fringe benefit a benefit that your employer gives you that is not in the form of money
gross income or pay the amount of money that you are paid before taxes
interview the process of speaking to an employer about oneself prior to being employed
net income the amount of money that you are paid after taxes have been deducted
overtime pay an amount of money that you are paid if you work over an agreed upon amount of time
pay period the number of days worked for one pay check
personal data an employee's phone number, address, Social Security number, email address
personnel manager the person in charge of hiring employees
references a person who personally recommends another person for employment
reliable a person who is trustworthy in actions and speech
salary the amount of money someone is paid on a yearly basis
seniority benefit a benefit that longtime employees have over new employees
state income tax a tax paid to the state
trainee or apprentice a person who is learning a job
unemployment compensation money paid to a person who is unemployed
union an organization which supports the rights of the employees
union dues money paid by the employee to the union
