TermDefinition
Objective statement that is based on fact and is unbiased
Subjective statement that is based on opinion and most likely biased
Omniscient a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story
Exposition the beginning of a story, when the setting & characters are established
Static character is one that does not undergo important change in the course of the story, remaining essentially the same at the end as he or she was at the beginning.
Dynamic character is one that does undergo an important change in the course of the story.
Literal concrete a word of phrase that means the same as its dictionary definition.
Pace the rate of speed in which events are described in a narrative.
Multimedia is the integration of multiple forms of media.
Historical fiction a genre of writing that includes historical facts and characters in a fictional story.
Annotation a comment or note explaining or criticizing a literary work
Compare to look for similarities between ideas, people, places, events, or passages.
Contrast to look for differences between ideas, people, places, events, of passages
Connotation the feeling or idea that a word expresses.
Evaluate To examine and judge carefully
Diverse comprised of many different or variety of things
Articulate able to speak clearly and with meaningful words.
Tolerance a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc.
Credible offering reasonable grounds for being believed
Allusion an indirect reference to a well-known person, place, event, or object in history or in a literary work.
