| Hypothesis | Beginning part of the conditional sentence. Follows the "if" |
| Conclusion | End part of the conditional sentence. Follows the "then" |
| Law of Detachment | If the conditional statement is tru and the hypothesis is true, then the conclusion is true. |
| Law of Syllogism | If p implies q and q implies r, then p implies r. |
