| Historical fiction | a made up story based on real past events. |
| Indentured servant | a person whose passage to America was paid in return for several years of labor. |

| passage | In colonial times, the price of traveling to America. |
| Political history | The history of how people set up their governments and passed laws for their community's. |
| province | A territory that is part of another nation or colony. |
| repeal | To cancel by official authority. |
| tenant | A farmer who grew crops on land he rented from wealthy homeowners. |
| unalienable | unable to be taken away. |
| warrant | An official document that grants permission for a place to be searched. |
| Writs of Assistance | Documents that gave government officials the right to search any house or business without a warrant. |
