| inhuman | having or showing no interest in individual people or their feelings : lacking emotional warmth |
| revelation | a usually secret or surprising fact that is made known |
| cult of personality | promoting extreme admiration or praise of a living national leader or public figure, as one encouraged by Stalin to extend his power |
| cataracts | a condition in which a part of your eye (called the lens) becomes cloudy and you cannot see well — often plural |
| incidence | the number of times something happens or develops : the rate at which something occurs |
| armistice | an agreement to stop fighting a war |
| demilitarized zone (DMZ) | area from which troops are prohibited: an officially recognized area from which all soldiers, weapons, and military installations have been removed after an agreement to stop fighting |
| rhetoric | language that is intended to influence people and that may not be honest or reasonable |
| tone down | make something less extreme: to make something less extreme, usually in order to make it less offensive or controversial |
| regime | a form of government |
| hostile | not friendly : having or showing unfriendly feelings |
| provocation | an action or occurrence that causes someone to become angry or to begin to do something |
