TermDefinition
Geometry The study of shapes
Point No exact location in a space that has no size
Plane Infinitely many intersecting lines in which extend forever in all directions
Space The set of all of the points expanding in three dimensions
Collinear Points that lie in the same line
Coplanar Points which live in the same plane
Endpoint Point at the end of the line
Line segment Part of a line with two endpoints
Ray Part of a line with only one endpoint that extends forever
Intersection A point or set of points where lines, planes, or rays intersect eachother
Postulates Basic rules of geometry
Theorem A statement that can be proven true
Translation Moves every point in a figure the same distance and same direction
Reflection A transformation that turns a figure into its mirror image by flipping it
Line of reflection The line a figure is reflected over
Rotation A transformation by which a figure is turned around to create an image
Center of rotation The fixed point that a figure is rotated on
Composition To preform more than one rigid transformations on a figure
Glide reflection A composition of a reflection and a translation parallel to the line of reflection
