Poetry It is the oldest form of literature. It is concerned with all kinds of emotions & communicates its thoughts and feeling through careful word choice and arrangement. It relies heavily on imagery, sound devices, rhythm & connotation
verse a single line of poetry
stanza several verses arranged together to make a stanza
rhyme scheme the pattern of rhymes in the poem
meter the rhythm or beat of a poem
inference to draw a conclusion
denotation the literal meaning of a word
connotation the emotional meaning of a word
