Useful vocabulary from chapter 7

ratio compares two numbers by division
proportion an equation stating two ratios are equal
similar have the same shape but are not necessarly the same size
indirect measurement any method that uses formulas, similar figures and/or proportions to measure an object
scale factor the ratio of any two corresponding lengths in two similar figures
