When were “the lost years?” From 1585- to 1592 there are no records of his life at this time.
What were some ideas about what Shakespeare was doing during “the lost years?” Some people think Shakespeare was a butcher, sailor, solider, a lawyer, teacher or clerk. No one really knows what he did during those years.
How did the outbreak of the plague affect Shakespeare? From 1592 to 1594- The theaters were closed due to the plague outbreak. This event stalled Shakespeare’s career.
Who were Lord Chamberlain’s Men? They were Shakespeare’s acting company.
What was the Globe Theater? Shakespeare was part owner of this theater. This is where his famous plays were performed. The stage was circular.
When and where did Shakespeare die? 1616
List the names of at least 5 Shakespeare plays. Hamlet, Henry VIII, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, King Lear, Macbeth and Antony and Cleopatra.
What was Shakespeare’s relationship with the Globe Theater? He was part owner and his famous plays were performed there.
Why wasn’t the Globe Theater located in London? Puritan politicians thought that they were sinful and immoral.
Describe the Globe Theater ( structure, routines, prices) It was circular in structure, plays 2 pm and 5 pm in the afternoon, and the admission prices depended on your class. The upper class sat in seats and paid more money while the peasants and labor workers watch from the ground and their tickets were cheap.
What happened to the Globe Theater and what play was being performed at the time? It burned down when a prop cannon misfired. Henry the VII was playing at the time.
What was the name of the guests that watched the play from the ground floor? Groundlings
What genre or (kind) did most of Shakespeare’s plays fall into? Comedy and Tragedy
What color flag was raised when a comedy was playing? White
What color flag was raised when a tragedy was playing? black
