Motion words

TermDefinition
Velocity Measures speed in a certain direction.
Motion The change of the object's position compared to other objects.
Newton's laws of motion 1 What is in motion is stays in motion. What is not in motion will stay still unless pushed or pulled by a force.
Newton's laws of motion 2 The amount of force needed to move an object depends on the mass of an object.
Newton's laws of motion 3 Every action has equal and opposite reaction.
Mass Amount of matter in an object.
Gravitational force. Pulls objects to earth.
Friction This is a force that slows down or stops objects when two surfaces touch.
Speed Measures the distance an object can travel in a certain amount of time.
Force This is to push or pull.
