Scientific Method

TermDefinition
Weight Is a measure of the pull of gravity on a object
Mass Is the amount of matter in a object
Measurement Descibes a quantity such such as time, length, distance, mass, volume, or temperature.
Experiment Is a test or trail that produces evidence you can use to help answer a question/hypothesis.
Data Collected information, the result of an experiment/investigation.
Quantitative Data Data that includes numbers (with units) measured during an experiment.
Qualitative Data Data that includes description of things you observe.
Hypothesis Is an idea that can be tested by an experiment.
Dependent variable The factor (thing) that is being observed and or measured in an experiment.
Independent variable Is the one factor (thing) that is changed during an experiment.
Control variable Variable that stays the same during an experiment.
