Abstruse Difficult to understand; obscure.
Anachronism A thing belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists, esp. a thing that is conspicuously old-fashioned.
Aphorism A pithy observation that contains a general truth.
Ascetic Characterized by severe self-discipline and abstention from all forms of indulgence, typically for religious reasons.
Benign Gentle; kindly.
Collusion Secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, esp. in order to cheat or deceive others.
Commensurate Corresponding in size or degree; in proportion.
Defunct No longer existing or functioning: "the defunct communist common market".
Dudgeon A feeling of offense or deep resentment: "the manager walked out in high dudgeon".
Entomology The branch of zoology concerned with the study of insects.
Ephemeral Lasting a very short time; short-lived.
Esoteric Intended for or likely to be understood by only a small number of people with a specialized knowledge or interest.
