ADVERSE EFFECT A bad side effect (Nitro=H/A, Versed=Respiratory Depression)
SIDE EFFECT Anyother action of the med than what you gave it for.
IRRATATION Abnormal chemical responce to a substance
ANTAGONIST A med that blocks the action of another med. (Narcan)
AGONIST Potientiates the effect your body would have in & of itself to stimulate your own systems.
CUMULATIVE ACTION The additive action of two drugs together
TOLERANCE A body's habituation yo a substance.
INTERACTION Symtoms that occure when one drug is mixed with another.
POTENTIATION One drug enhances or increases the effect of another drug.
ADDICTION Physiological & psychological need for a med to maintain homeostasis ( Need it just to make it through the day)
IDIOSYNCRASY The way an individual responds to a drug differentally than most.
HYPERSENSITIVITY Allergic reaction
WITHDRAWL Symptoms when a drug is removed
PARENTERAL Any medication route other than through the GI tract. (IV, IM, SQ,INHALED)
TOXICITY Alevel of meds that causes adverse effects.
REFRACTORY Does not work
BOLUS Given all at once ( Usually given IO or IV)
INCOMPATIBILITY Can not work together with other drugs. (Causes a precipitate or one drug cancles out the other)

MAOI = Mono Amino Oxidase
TCA = TRICYCLIC ANTIDEPRESSANT
Chronotrope = H/R
Inotropy Contractility of the H.
Tinnitus = Ringing in the ears
Parasympatholytic = Against the Periferal Nervous System, PNS Blocker
Anticholinergic = Against ACh
Atropine Sulfate works ... against the PNS by blocking ACh, allowing more SNS activity
Antitussive = Stops coughing
ADH = Anti Diuretic Hormone
CO = Cardiac Output
