Linear Systems
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| consistent system | a system of equations or inequalities that has at least one solution |
| constraint | one of the inequalities in a linear programming problem |
| dependent system | a system of equations that has infinitely many solutions |
| elimination | a method used to solve systems of equations in which one variable is eliminated by adding or subtracting two equations of the system |
| feasible region | the set of points that satisfies the constraints in a linear-programming problem |
| inconsistent system | a system of equations or inequalities that has no solution |
| independent system | a system of equations that has exactly one solution |
| linear programming | a method of finding a maximum or minimum value of a function that satisfies a given set of conditions called constraints |
| linear system | a system of equations containing only linear equations |
| subsitution | a method used to solve systems of equations by solving an equation for one variable and substituting the resulting expression into other equations |
| system of equations | a set of two or more equations that contain two or more variables |
| system of linear inequalities | a set of two or more linear inequalities containing two or more variables |
| ordered triple | a set of three numbers that can be used to locate a point in a three-dimensional coordinate system. 1st number is distance along the x-axis, 2nd number is distance along the y-axis, and the 3rd number is the distnace along the z-axis |
