| Credentials | Proof that you are really a detective |
| Crime Scene | This is usually the actual location of a crime but it can also be the area where the crime was planned or the entry point where the criminal got into the place where he committed the crime |
| Evidence | Anything that might help solve a crime |
| Rookie | Someone who is just getting started on their training |
| Sergeant | A police ranking that is one more higher than a new police officer |
| Shield | A badge that helps prove a detective's credentials |
| Eyewitness | A person who saw a crime with their own eyes |
| First Responder | The first officer at the scene of a crime |
| Forensic Scientist | scientist who analyze small or even microscopic clues |
| Suspect | A person who might have committed the crime, who might be the perpetrator |
| Trace evidence | Tiny pieces of evidence |
| CSI technician | Someone who helps the detective find and preserve evidence at a crime scene, analyze clues then give the results to the detective for him/her to solve the crime |
| Lieutenant | A police ranking that is one above sergeant |
| Motive | The reason why someone does something(crime) |
| Perpetrator | Person who commits crime(perp) |
| Precinct | The neighborhood that a police officer is assigned to keep safe |
| Victim | A person who is hurt(physically), or hurt because something was stolen from them, end result from a perp |
| Witness | A person who knows something about the crime even though they were not there in the happening |
| Assault | When a Perpetrator physically attacks someone |
| Burglary | When a perpetrator breaks in to somewhere with the intent to steal |
| Crime scene notification | A sign that police post to warn the public that a certain area is a crime scene and to not touch it |
| CSI | The process of collecting and analyzing the evidence discovered at a crime scene |
| Emergency dispatcher | the person who answers 9-1-1 calls and sends out police officers |
| Fingerprints | An impression on a surface made by the ridges on the fingertips |
| Forensic Science | The use of scientific principles, mostly of biology and chemistry, to analyze evidence from a crime |
| Lead investigator | The investigator in charge of a particular case |
| Partial | A piece or part of a fingerprint |
| Patrol | When a police officer is out on the streets protecting them from a crime |
| Vehicle Theft | The act of stealing someones car, bike, van, or other vehicle |
| Vehicle Accident | When someone gets in a crash on their car, van, bike, or other vehicle |
| Ultra Violet | When you use UV lights it makes objects glow making them easier to see |
| Tool Marks | Scrapes and scratches left by tools that indicate that someone tried to break in |
| Theory | An idea that a detective has about a possible way a crime was commited |
| Theft | When a perpetrator steals someone else property without using violence or intimidation |
| Robbery | When a perpetrator steals someone else's property by using violence or intimidation |
