Math Vocabulary for Jamie

QuestionAnswer
circumferance The distance around a circle.
area The size a surface takes up. Measured in square units.
perimeter the distance around the outside of a shape.
Parallel Lines lines that are the same distance apart and will never cross.
perpendicular lines lines that cross intersect at right angles to each other.
intersect to cross over one another.
chord straight line joining two points on the circumference of a circle.
radius the distance from the center of a circle to its circumference.
diameter a straight line passing through the center of a circle to touch both sides of the circumference.
pi the ratio of the circumference of a circle to it's diameter.
