Linear Function term

Linear Functions Vocab

QuestionAnswer
Regression Equation the equation representing the relation between selected values of one variable (x) and observed values of the other (y).
Residuals A quantity remaining after other things have been subtracted or allowed for.
Best Fit Line Curve fitting is the process of constructing a curve, or mathematical function, that has the best fit to a series of data points.
Correlation Coefficient one of a number of measures of correlation, usually assuming values from +1 to −1.
Interpolate to insert, estimate, or find an intermediate term in (a sequence).
Linear Function a map from one vector space to a vector space having the same field of scalars.
Regression A regression is a statistical analysis assessing the association between two variables. It is used to find the relationship between two variables.
Y-Intercept Point in which the line of best fit crosses the Y-axis, and X = 0.
Slope Rise/Run; Y/X; used to measure the steepness of a line.
Extrapolate to estimate (a function that is known over a range of values of its independent variable) to values outside the known range.
