Vocabulary- Linear
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| System of equations | two or more equations with the same variables. |
| Consistent | has at least one solution and has to do with systems of linear equations. |
| Inconsistent | has no solutions and has to do with systems of linear equations. |
| Independent | has exactly one solution and has to do with a consistent system. |
| Dependent | has an infinite number of solutions and has to do with a consistent system. |
| Substitution method | an algebraic method where one equation is solved for one variable in terms of the other. Then, this expression is substituted for the variable in the other equation. |
| Elimination method | an algebraic method where you eliminate one of the variables by adding or subtracting the equations. When you add two true equation, the result is a new equation that is also true. |
| System of inequalities | is solved by finding the ordered pairs that satisfy all of the inequalities in the system. |
| Constraints | the inequalities in a system of inequalities. |
| Feasible region | the intersection of the graphs in a system of inequalities. |
| Bounded | a polygonal region where the graph is a system of constraints. |
| Vertices | the points on a graph. |
| Unbounded | the region that is open in a system of inequalities. |
| Linear programming | the process of finding maximum or minimum values of a function for a region defined by inequalities. |
| Ordered triple | the solution of a system of equations in three variables. |
