| consistent | a system of equations that has a least one solution. |
| inconsistent | a system of equation that has no solution. |
| independent | a system of equations that have exactly one solution. |
| dependent | if it has an infinite number of solution |
| substitution method | a method of solving a system of equation in which one equation is solved for one variable in terms of the other |
| elimination method | eliminate one of the variables in a system of equations by adding or subtracting the equations |
| system of inequalities | a set of inequalities with the same variable |
| constraints | condition given to variables, often expressed as linear inequalities |
| feasible region | the intersection of the graphs in a system of constranints |
| bounded | a region is bounded when the graph of a system of constraints is a polygonal region |
| vertices | the maximum or minimum value that a liner function has for the points in a feasible region |
| unbounded | a system of inequalities that forms a region that is open |
| linear programming | an equation that has no operations other than addition , subtraction, and multiplication of a variable by a constant |
| octants | the eight regions of three-dimensional space |
| ordered triple | the coordinates of a point in space 2. the solution of a system of equation in three variables x,y,and z. |
