Linear Systems Vocab
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| System of equations | two or more equations with the same variable |
| Consistent | An equation that has at least one solution |
| Inconsistent | An equation that has no solutions |
| Dependent | An equation that has infinite solutions |
| Independent | An equation that has exactly one solution |
| Substitution method | A method where, one equation is solved for one variable in terms of the other. Then this expression is substituted for the variable in the other equation |
| Elimination method | Using this method, you eliminate one of the variables by adding or subtracting |
| System of inequalities | A system of inequalities is a set of two or more inequalities with the same variables, graphed in the same coordinate plane. |
| Constraints | inequalities |
| Feasible region | Region inside where the lines intersect on a graph |
| Bounded | graph of a system of constraints is a polygonal region |
| Vertices | he maximum or minimum value of a related function |
| Unbounded | system of inequalities forms a region that is open |
| Ordered triple | solution of a system of equations in three variables, x, y and z |
| Octants | When the three coordinate planes intersect at right angles and divide space into eight region |
