| Metaphor | A comparison between two dissimilar objects not using like or as. |
| Figurative Language | Language and expressions that are not literally true and are used to create original descriptions. |
| Rhyme | Repitition of sounds at the end of a line. |
| Onomatopoeia | Sound of the word that echoes/suggests the meaning of the word. |
| Alliteration | Repitition of beginning sound consonants. |
| Stanza | A group of lines in a poem- not called a paragraph in poetry. Stanzas are separated by a single space or more in poems. |
| Free-Verse | Poetry written in a regular, rhythmical pattern. |
