What is a pure substance? | Anything that contains only one kind of matter. |
What is an element? | The simplest form of matter that exists under normal conditions. |
What is a compound? | A chemical combination of two or more elements, always the same in structure & ratio, making a unique substance, different from the elements that compose it. |
What is a mixture? | A mix or physical combination, not structurally combine at the atomic level, of two or more elements &/or compounds. |
What is a reactant? | The beginning substances in a chemical reaction. |
What is a product? | The ending substances in a chemical reaction. |

What is the Law of Conservation of Mass? | Mass can neither be created nor destroyed. |
How is the Law of Conservation of Mass represented in a chemical equation? | Total Mass of Reactants must equal Total Mass of Products. The equation must be balanced. Atoms of each element in reactants must equal number of atoms of each element of products. |
