Father of Hermia. He is domineering and overbearing who insists his daughter marry the man he chose or be beheaded. Egeus
Beloved of Hermia. Egeus believes he is not a good suitor for Hermia. He thinks Lysander pretends to be in love with Hermia, but in reality he really loves Hermia. Lysander
Suitor to Hermia and has the consent of Egeus. He is not a model lover. He played with Helena's emotions and dropped her as a girlfriend. Demetrius
Arranges for the wedding entertainment. He is scornful of the actors and thinks the performance is ridiculous. Philostrate
Queen of the Amazons, engaged to Theseus. Once a war like creature she is now tamed and abides by Theseus word. Hippolyta
Daughter to Egeus is in love with Lysander. She is a tiny woman of dark complexion. She has sparkling eyes and a lovely voice and is independent. Her deep love for Lysander has made her a vixen in her father's viewpoint. But she has a soft teasing side. Hermia
In love with Demetrius. She is tall, blonde, and lovely. Her "gentle" love for Demetrius is fierce and fiery. No one can convince her not to be in love with him. Helena
Queen of the fairies. She is most concerned with beauty, sweetness, and pleasantness. She adores lovely things and is loyal to all her subjects. Especially to the memory of her Indian boy's mother Titania
King of the Fairies. He can make himself invisible. He is a jester and his moods are deeply mortal, he is envious, capable of revenge, and great anger. He wants the Indian boy. Oberon
Oberon's jester. He is the spirit of mischief and irresponsibility. He is a tiny creature. He is capable of good deeds but does mostly practical jokes. Puck or Robin Goodfellow
A carpenter, is patient. He deals with Bottom. Peter Quince
A weaver and Pyramus in the play. Humor and good nature exude from him. He is ridiculous to such extremes that he often seems to be an "ass" which is why Puck transforms him into this. Bottom
A bellows - maker in the play Thisby. He is tiny and is girl shaped yet he doesn't not want to be the heroine in the play. Francis Flute
A tinker, a wall in the play. he is probably the most visually comic figure in the play. he is roughly plastered with mortar and stones throughout the wedding entertainment Tom Snout
A joiner, a lion in the play. He wants a part where he will not have to memorize any lines. Snug
A tailor; moonshine. Like snout he is very shy and attempts to explain to the audience who he is and forgets his lines and exhausts Hippolyta's patience. Robin Starveling
