Obelisk (n.) a tapering, four-sided shaft of stone, usually monolithic and having a pyramidal apex. Some structures are a modern twist on a traditional obelisk.
Obese (adj.) very fat or overweight; It is not healthy to be obese.
Saline (adj.) salty or saltlike Some bodies of water on the earth are very saline.
Objectivity (n.) he state or quality of being objective When seeking the truth of a question, you must use objectivity in your inquiry.
Obtuse (adj.) not quick or alert in perception, feeling, or intellect; not sensitive or observant; dull. He had an obtuse look on his face.
Deleterious (adj.) harmful; injurious In high school there are a lot of deleterious influences.
Embrasure (n.) an opening, as a loophole or crenel, through which missiles may be discharged. There was an embrasure on the ship.
Accede (v.) to give consent, approval, or adherence; agree; assent; We all decided to accede with Mrs. Kalis's idea.
Microcosm (n.) a little world Most dreams take place in a microcosm.
Autocrat (n.) an absolute ruler He is an autocrat in a tough spot.
Spartan (adj.) pertaining to Sparta or its people. Living the Spartan life is tough.
Glossary (n.) a list of terms in a special subject, field, or area of usage, with accompanying definitions. I used the glossary to look up the definition of the word autocrat.
Embroil (v.) to bring into discord or conflict It is not good to embroil people into an arguement.
Empyreal (adj.) pertaining to the highest heaven in the cosmology of the ancients. Before someone dies they wish to reach the empyreal heaven.
Noncommittal (adj.) not committing oneself. It is not good to be noncommittal in a relationship.
Redaction (v.) the act of editing I redacted my work before turning it in.
Solace (n.) comfort in sorrow, misfortune, or trouble; alleviation of distress or discomfort.
Solecism (n.) comfort in sorrow, misfortune, or trouble; alleviation of distress or discomfort.
Pillage (v.) to strip ruthlessly of money or goods by open violence, as in war
Fete (n.) a day of celebration; holiday Christmas is one of my favorite fetes.
Fetish (n.) an object regarded with awe as being the embodiment or habitation of a potent spirit or as having magical potency.
Variegated (adj.) varied in appearance or color; marked with patches or spots of different colors. He wore a variegated t-shirt.
Fracas (n.) a noisy, disorderly disturbance or fight; riotous brawl; uproar. There was a fracas in the class.
Shard (n.) a fragment, especially of broken earthenware. I found a beautiful shard on the beach.
Glutinous (adj.) of the nature of glue; gluey; viscid; sticky. There was as glutinous substance on her shirt.
Precarious (adj.) dependent on circumstances beyond one's control; uncertain; unstable He was very precarious after her pulled his hamstring.
Enamored (v.) to fill or inflame with love I am not sure why people are enamored with the Chili cook off.
Enclave (n.) a country, or especially, an outlying portion of a country, entirely or mostly surrounded by the territory of another country.
Orthography (n.) the art of writing words with the proper letters, according to accepted usage He enjoyed writing essays so much that he decided to study orthography in college.
