a comparison of two numbers using division. ratio
an equation that states that two ratios are equal proportion
the middle terms of a proportion means
the first and last terms of a proportion extremes
for two positive numbers a and b, the positive number x that satisfies a/x = b/x. geometric mean
a drawing that is the same shape as the object it represents scale drawing
a ratio that describes how the dimensions in a scale drawing are related to the actual dimensions of the object scale
two polygons such that their cooresponding angles are congruent and the lengths of cooresponding sides are proportional similar polygons
the ratio of the lenghts of two cooresponding sides of two similar plygons scale factor of two similar polygons
a transformation that stretches or shrinks a figure to create a similar figure dilation
in a dilation, the fixed point about which the figure is enlarged or reduced center of dilation
in a dilation, the ratio of a side length of the image to a cooresponding side lenth of the original figure scale factor of a dilation
a dilation with a scale factor between 0 and 1 reduction
