Antonym Opposites
Boldface A word that is darkened and larger
Conclusion The end of a passage; how the story ends
Conflict A problem with someone or something

Context Clues Clues that you can find in the text to help you figure something out
Climax The highest point in a passage; where things change; intense
Exposition The introduction to the story; the begining
Fact Something that can be proven
Falling Action An event that comes right after the climax and before the resoultion
Footnote A note that is found on the bottom of a page that gives you more information about something
Illustration Picture or drawing
Logical Something that is reasonable; makes sense
Opinion A thought or feeling about something
Point of View How the passage is told; from who is telling the story
First Person I, me, my
Second Person You
Third Person He, she, it, they, them
Predict/Prediction What you think will happen
Resoultion How something is slove
Rising Action An event that leds to the climax
Setting The time and place of a story
Synonym Same
Writer's Purpose Why the writer wrote the passage
Inference A reasonable guess that you can make by reading the story; using unstated clues
Adverb A verb that ends in -ly or shows location; tells us How?, When?, Where?, How Much?
Linking Verb A verb that links the subject of a sentence with a noun or adjective in the predicate
Examples of Linking Verbs Is, was, am, were, be, seem, appear, taste
Prefix A word part that is added to the begining of a root or based word
Root Main word part
Subject Pronoun A pronoun like (he,she,it,I,they,we,you) that is the subject of the sentence
Suffix A word part that is added to the ending of a root or base word
