open figure vs. closed figure | figure in which 2 rays or line segments are not connected with a point vs. figure in which all rays and segments are connected with a point |

triangle | 3 sides; 3 angles (sum 180) |

quadrilateral | 4 sides; 4 angles (sum 360) |

pentagon | 5 sides; 5 angles (sum 540) |

hexagon | 6 sides; 6 angles (sum 720) |

octagon | 8 sides; 8 angles (sum 1,080) |

circle | not a polygon, round edges |

half circle | part of a circle with a straight edge |

right triangle | 3 sides with 1 right angle, 2 acute angles |
