Chemistry The branch of science that deals with the Properties of matter.
Matter Anything that has mass and takes up space.
Mass The amount of matter in an object or body measured in grams.
Weight The amount that gravity pulls on a certain mass measured in pounds and ounces.
Liquid Takes the shape of it's container ( Atoms are packed together loosely)
Gas Only takes the shape of a container if it trapped in (atoms are very free,constantly moving)
Solid Has it's own shape,can change.
Volume The amount of space an object takes up (measured in cubic centimeters =cm 3
Water Displacement A method of measuring the volume of an irregularly solid shape.
Buoyancy If it is in the shape of a ball in sinks If it is spread out it floats.
Negative sink Is displaced in water.
Positive float That water pushes up.
Neutral Stay where it's at.
Density A measure of how tightly packed the atoms of substance are.
Density of water = 1 if the density of an object is more then one it sinks, if the density of an object is less then one it floats.
