Penal Code state's criminal laws
Lawsuit one person suing another.
Mandatory Sentencing judge must impose the required sentence.
Indeterminate Sentencing length of sentence not set.
Defendant individual being sued (the accused).
Plaintiff person filing the lawsuit.
Summons notice of a lawsuit.
Subpoena court order requiring a person to appear in court.
Bailiff court police officer.
Three-Strikes Law says a person convicted of a 3rd felony get an extended service.
Retribution correcting your wrongdoing.
Restitution payment for damages.
Deterrence punishment intended as a warning to others.
Hung Jury cannot reach a verdict.
Cross Examine to ask questions of the other side's witnesses.
Rehabilitate to change bad behavior.
Capital Punishment death penalty.
Victimless Crime crime that does not violate another person's rights.

Probable Cause gathered enough evidence to make an arrest.
