One of my elder sisters' children, named William, had his leg broken, which the Indians perceiving..." Mary Rowlandson. Mary Rowlandson wrote about personal events and encounters with the Indians. She added emotions to her writing styles to let the audience connect with the way she felt about watching her family die in front of her.
Who wrote this? "The place they had thoughts on was some of those vast and unpeopled countries in America, which are fruitful and fit for habitation, being devoid of all civil inhabitants, where there are only savages and brutish men." William Bradford
"There's wealth enough; I need no more/ Farewell my pelf; farewell, my store./ The world no longer let me love;/ My hope and Treasure lies above." Who wrote this? Anne Bradstreet..in this section of her poem, her house was burned down due to the Indians attacking her town . After she loses everything including her family and friends, she still gives all the glory to God. She believes that this is a test.

Who wrote it? Jonathan Edwards..he used scare tactics to make his community return to the church. He only used the old testament to show the wrath of God.
"It was answered, that all great and honorable actions are accompanied with great difficulties, and must be both enterprised and overcome with answerable courage. It was granted the dangers were great, but not desperate; the difficulties were many..who? William Bradford..he was the first Puritan writer to depict the journey on the Mayflower that traveled from Holland. He wrote in "plain style" as most writers did. he didn't use figurative language to convey his message. He wrote straight to the point.
"1. That they were always exposed to destruction; as one that stands or walks in slippery places is always exposed to fall. This is implied in the manner of their destruction coming upon them, being represented by their foot sliding..." Who? Jonathan Edwards..he would use verses "Psalm 73:18". He used verses from the Old Testament to show the anger God possessed, but he never never used the New Testament. Scare Tactics
