Cladding Thin sheet or layer of material used to cover walls
Periodic tables: Metals : Non metals : Semi metals
Metals Solid at room temp. High melting and boiling points. Good conduction of heat and electricity. Rigid when thick. Bendy when thin. Malleable. Ductile. Magnetism (Iron, nickel, cobalt) Metal oxides are bases.
Non-metals Half are gases at room temp. Low melting and boiling points. Poor conduction of heat and electricity. Good insulators. Not malleable/ductile. Not magnetic. Non-metal oxides are acids.
titanium + oxygen --> titanium oxide Reaction doesn't change appearance.
copper + oxygen --> copper oxide Turns green
zinc + oxygen --> zinc oxide Paler grey than metal.
acid + base --> salt + water neutralisation.
sulphuric acid + copper oxide --> copper sulphate + water
hydrochloric acid + copper oxide --> copper chloride + water
nitric acid + copper oxide --> copper nitrate + water
phosphoric acid + copper oxide --> copper phosphate + water
Copper sulphate is... toxic to living organisms
Ores Rocks that contain useful minerals
copper sulphide + oxygen --> copper oxide + carbon dioxide
copper oxide + sulphuric acid --> copper sulphate
Brass Copper + Zinc
Cast iron (Good for intricate shapes) Iron + Carbon

Stainless steel: Iron, Carbon, Nickel, Chromium (Chromium reacts faster, is unreactive)
Stone Strong under compression, not under tension (pulling)
Sedimentary rock Layers of sediment compacted and cemented together. Porous (Sand stone and Lime stone)
Igenous From magma, not porous (Granite)
Metamorphic From other rocks, changed by extreme heat or pressure, not porous (slate, marble)
