Decimals and Equations Vocabulary Pre-algebra

Compatible Numbers Numbers that are easy to divide mentally .
Measures of central tendency Mean , Median , and Mode are measures of central tendency
Mean The sum of the data values divided by the numbers of data values divided by the number of data values
Median The middle number when data values are written in order and there is an odd number of data values . For an even number of data values , the median is the mean of the two middle numbers
Mode the data item that occurs most often. There can be one mode, more than one mode , or no mode.
Range the set of data that is the difference between the greatest and least values in the data set.
Outlier the data value that is much greater or less the other data values . An outlier can affect the mean of a group of data.
Formula An equation that shows a relationship between quantities that are represented by variables.
Perimeter the distance around a figure
