| onomatopoeia | words that imitate a sound |
| oxymoron | similar to a paradox but more detailed("packed in") |
| paradox | a seeming contraction that reveals a greater truth |
| parallelism | using the same pattern of words, phrases, or clauses |
| personification | an object doing human actions |
| pun | a humorous use of a word or phrase |
| repetition for effect | the use of words repeated for more details |
| simile | a figure of speech in which two unlike things are compared |
| symbol | something that means what it is and more |
| understatement | the presentation of something as being smaller that it actually is |
