Punctuation Rules Quiz

Rule Number 1 If you aren't using a person's exact words, don't use quotation marks.
Rule Number 2 If the person's words ask a question, state a command, or make a statement, place the appropriate punctuation inside the second quotation mark.
Rule Number 3 When a person's sentence is interrupted with a dialogue tag (he said, she said), place a comma and quotation mark before and after the tag.
Rule Number 4 If a statement ends before the dialogue tag, place a comma and quotation mark after the statement and a period after the tag.
Rule Number 7 Begin a new paragraph each time the speaker changes.
Rule Number 8 If you quote one person for more than two paragraphs, use quotation marks at the start of each paragraph and at the end of the last paragraph.
