QuestionAnswer
Compound composed of two or more elements ionically bonded. 1 metal, 1 nonmetal
Atom The smallest " building block" of life. Basic unit.
Element one of the class of substances that cannot be broken down without creating a new substance. All like groups have same atomic number, atomic mass, and number of protons, electrons, and neutrons.
Homogeneous Mixture mixture is made of different elements, however, not dispersed evenly throughout the substance, like in a pattern.
Heterogeneous Mixture made of different elements, however, NOT dispersed evenly. Has distinct regions throughout the substance.
Pure Substance has a constant composition/build. Is split into three main groups, element, compound, and molecule.
