Lord of the Flies Chapter 3

QuestionAnswer
In chapter 3, what is Jack wearing and what looks different now from when he first arrived on the island? By this point, Jack's hair has gotten long and dirty from all of his time in the jungle. His clothes are ripped or off completely, and his skin is tan from the sun. Overall, JACK LOOKS MORE SAVAGE.
What is Jack doing in the beginning of chapter 3? In the beginning of chapter 3, Jack is crawling around the jungle hunting a pig.
What is the first thing Jack askes for when he comes out of the forest? The first thing Jack asks for is water.
What are Ralph and Simon doing in chapter 3? Ralph and Simon are attempting to build a shelter.
What is Ralph upset by? Ralph is upset because Simon is the only other boy on the island who is helping him build the shelters.
What are Ralph's feeling on meetings? Ralph is starting to feel that the meetings are a waste of time, because nobody follows through with the things that they promise to do.
Jack says he could have killed a pig if they could make WHAT? Jack says that he could kill a pig if he had a barbed spear.
There are two reasons why Ralph thinks it is really important to have shelter. WHAT are they? 1.)Ralph thinks that it is important to have shelter to protect them from the rain; 2.)Protect them from the beastie
What still has the children afraid? The children are still afraid of the beastie that they think comes out at night.
What are Jack's thought on the rescue? Jack is more concerned with hunting and at this point being rescued has become an afterthought.
Where must the pigs be hiding during the hot day? During the day the pigs run back into the jungle to protect themselves from the hot sun.
Where do Jack and Ralph assume Simon is? Ralph and Jack assume Simon has gone off to the bathing pool.
Where is Simon really? Simon has gone off into the jungle by himself.
How is Simon different from the other boys? Simon is very different from the other boys on the island because he is kind, understanding, and comfortable being by himself. Unlike Jack who is motivated by internal desires, and Ralph who is motivated by external rules.
