| Grand Jury | a group of citizens (jury) who help determine if someone suspected of a crime should be put on trial |
| evidence | information that helps to prove the facts presented at a trial are true |
| testify | to give evidence or answer questions during a trial |
| fined | a fee charged for breaking a rule or committing a crime |
| convicted | to be found guilty of a crime |
| accused | thought guilty; charged with a crime |
| peers | people similar to you who live in your community |
| witness | a person who sees a crime take place |
| civil case | noncriminal dispute or trial; divorce or property rights |
| punishment | penalty; harsh treatment |
| entitled | qualified for; a right given by law |
| bail | money given as a promise to return to court after being released from custody |
