Unit 2 Vocab

What is a negative number? A number less than zero.
What is a positive number? A number greater than zero.
What is an integer? All negative numbers, positive numbers, and zero.
What is a coordinate? The number that corresponds to the point on the number line.
What is absolute value? The distance a number is from zero.
What are opposites? Two numbers with the same absolute value, but have different signs.
What are additive inverses? An integer and its opposite.
What is mean? The average of a set of data.
What are quadrants? The four regions that the x-axis and the y-axis separate the coordinate plane into.
What is a transformation? An operation that maps an original geometric figure onto a new figure.
What is an image? The new figure created after a transformation.
What is a translation? When you slide a figure from one point to another without turning it.
What is a reflection? When you flip a figure over a line.
What is a line of symmetry? The line you flip a figure over.
