vocabulary practice up through October

QuestionAnswer
factor tree a strategy used to find the prime factorization of a number
factor any numbers multiplied together to form a product
greatest common factor the largest factor of two or more numbers
composite number a whole number with more than two factors
prime number a counting number that has exactly two factors, 1 and itself
common factor a factor that has two or more numbers to share
expanded form a number written in a way that shows the value of each of its digits
standard form the usual way to write the name of a number
written form the number as it is said in words
word form the number as it is said in words
product the answer to a multiplication problem
quotient the answer to a division problem
divisor the number by which another number is divided
dividend the number being divided
place value the value of a digit determined by its position in a number
compatible numbers numbers that seem to go together because they are easy to compute mentally
